In a bid to become an empowering leader and social game-changer in the fashion industry, homegrown brand Bayo initiates a movement of sustainability through its newest partnership with Rags2Riches.

Bayo expands its influence and takes on the new cause with a Gift with Purchase initiative, which aims to address waste management and promote sustainability, while still adhering to its value of uplifting Filipino communities through craftsmanship.

“We were inspired to take this next step because I see mountains of cut fabrics in our factories just waiting to be thrown in the dumpsites and this would take so many years before it would decompose,” begins Louie Lagon, managing director of Bayo Foundation.

As a conscious fashion producer, Lagon says, Bayo strives to lessen its environmental impact and ensures that their scraps do not end up in landfills.

Rags2Riches participated in this initiative to upcycle fabric scraps from the company’s manufacturing sites to create bags, designed and handwoven by the artisans of the foundation.

Lagon continues, “Climate change has always been a daunting problem all over the world. Through our responsible waste management efforts, Bayo is making sustainability its thrust. Bayo aims to lead the industry in helping alleviate its environmental impact.”

The partnership gives birth to an array of beautifully crafted bags that are chic and stylish, perfect for the modern woman. For ladies who like to keep it hands-free, there’s the nifty backpack that is fitted with straps so it can also be carried as a handbag. On the other hand, women on-the-go can opt for a roomier tote that comes in colors such as khaki, navy, red, and black.

Shoppers can avail these limited edition bags for free for a minimum purchase of P5,000 at any Bayo store.

For each bag made of upcycled scraps, shoppers will be helping conserve resources. In addition, they will be supporting a fair and ethical livelihood for the artisans of Rags2Riches.

“We hope to spark a transformation and empower Filipinos to make sustainable fashion a central part of their lives. We believe that this project will create a big impact not only on our local industry but the global environment. We encourage our consumers to join us in this movement and be more conscious about sustainability,” ends Lagon.
