Puppy love

Dog lovers and first time puppy parents recently learned how to make their furry friends happier and healthier during the annual Pet Express Puppy Seminar. This was held recently in partnership with Royal Canin at the SM City North Edsa.

Dr. Sam Rebong, a Pet Specialist from Royal Canin, gave some tips on how to take care of and make “Living with your Puppy” happier. Here are some guidelines on how to care of your fur babies:

Get to know more of your furbaby. Know your dog’s needs, and keep these in mind when shopping for their stuff. Every puppy requires 30°C body heat temperature so choose the right dog bed with soft padding and keep it on the same spot.

Provide your puppy with a proper diet, which is good for growth and prevents any pathological problems.

Have your puppy checked by a veterinarian regularly. Vaccines are a must when your pup is about six weeks to eight weeks. This should be repeated every three weeks to four weeks until about four months of age. Make sure you strictly follow-up his check up with the vet.

Find the right grooming tools that suit your puppy’s grooming requirements. Choose combs, brushes and shampoos based on your dog’s coat type.

Housetrain your puppy by keeping a solid routine. Always praise him when he behaves and never punish him physically. Place training pads at one side of the room, and his bed and toys at the other.

Also, there’s more fun ahead for feline lovers as Pet Express will be having their first Kitten Seminar on Feb. 18 at SM City Fairview. Interested participants can get a VIP ticket for every P500 single receipt purchase of Royal Canin products from Pet Express stores in SM City Dasmariñas, SM City Fairview, SM City North Edsa, SM City Masinag, SM Cubao, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM Hypermarket Makati, and Pet Express stores in Greenhills and Alabang Hills.
