Mets One, the company behind top retail denim labels Freego, Wrangler, Freshgear and Bobson, celebrated and welcomed the New Year with a CSR initiative to help the parish communities in the Greater Manila Area.

The company has collaborated with Hapag-Asa, a foundation that aims to reduce malnutrition problem in the Philippines, Assisi Development Foundation (ADFI), and Feed the Children Philippines (FTCPI), to help in the community service activities of dioceses of Cubao, Novaliches, Caritas Manila, and Likas Federation.

Mets One, along with Hapag-Asa, held training classes at parishes and Caritas offices to teach over 75 members to repurpose billboard tarpaulins into bags. The company provided the tarpaulins to be used for the project. A total of 500 well-made tarpaulin bags were given to the parishes to be used for their community service activities.

The project aimed to find an economical and environmentally-friendly use of the recycled tarpaulins while helping different communities. It also succeeded in teaching the participants of the program the skills to produce a low-cost, recycled product—and these skills may help them enrich their livelihoods.

Reverend Ramon T. Salibay, Sto. Domingo Church’s Parish Priest, shared a few words of kindness for the company during the event. “You were sent by the Lord for us. Thank you very much, and we hope you continue your good work wherever you maybe.”

“We’re glad to have worked with Hapag-Asa to help different communities in our own way,” says Jill Panganiban, Mets One Group Marketing Manager. “With our partnership, we hope that we have not only equipped different parishes with tools that they can use in their daily operations, but that we have taught many individuals valuable skills that they can use to further better their lives.”
