Move over, BB creams

A few years ago, the beauty industry was rocked by BB creams, which are essentially multi-tasking tinted moisturizers that combine several benefits including moisturization, acne control and color coverage. Women went gaga for BB creams after learning that this was supposedly the beauty secret of Korean stars. Today, almost every brand, from Bobbi Brown to Maybelline, has a BB cream. What's next after the BB cream? It's logical that what comes next is something that's called a CC cream, right? CC stands for "color correcting" and it is designed to even and brighten one's complexion. Rachel K CC Cream is considered one of the best in the market. I haven't seen it personally but according to friends who use the product, it definitely provides more coverage than a BB cream. “CC Cream is a much more refined and improved BB cream which combines various benefits all in one – color control, oil control, whitening, brightening, moisturizing and UV protection with SPF 35 PA ++. It enhances our complexion by improving its texture, balancing skin tone and brings forth the quality of real skin – dewy, fresh, elastic and with a glow. The end effect is a flawless, non oily (matte) and radiant complexion," said the brand in its Web site. Rachel Kum, founder of Rachel K, explains that CC creams are softer than BB creams, which can be a bit difficult to apply. Chanel also has a CC cream and I've been told that it is THE BEST in the market today and very difficult to procure, too. One good thing about Chanel’s CC cream is that it has SPF 30. Finding a tube of Chanel CC cream, according to beauty addicts, is akin to finding the Holy Grail. Another worthy contender in the CC cream market is Juice Beauty, The Ultimate Color Correcting 12 in 1 Multi-tasker which promises 12 benefits: repairs damage; evens skin tone and texture; firms and improves elasticity; reduces fine lines and wrinkles; creates a radiant, glowing complexion; balances skin tone; is rich in anti-oxidants; protects with chemcal-free SPF 30; is the ultimate mositurizer; gives skin perfecting color; and is great for all skin types. The good news is that Juice Beauty is available in the Philippines at Beauty Bar. Olay was the first company to come out with a CC cream and its product called The first is Olay Total Effects CC Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer, targets hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and blotchiness, and claims long-term spot-diminishing benefits. The CC creams from Asia, meanwhile, contain antioxidants like teas.
