My Furry Bestie

This corner features pets of animal lovers every week. We hope new owners and those thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to be responsible “furparents” through these features. We also hope more people will be moved to be kind to animals when they read about the great relationship that can be created between humans and animals.

My Furry Bestie

DAL was given his unusual, cute name by the grandfather of owner Marielle Alday when he first came into their lives. He is now 15 years old.

“His mom is a half-labrador and half-dalmatian. His dad is a dachshund.  Dal’s head and tail are as big as a lab, his body is like that of a dachshund, and his coat looks like the coat of a dalmatian,” Marielle says.

She adds: “He is pretty heavy at 45 kilos. He used to weigh 51 kilos but he had a health issue last year and lost weight. The vet found out he has an enlarged heart and we had to put him on a diet.”

But Marielle says,”Today, Dal is a healthy baby boy and a real goofball. He is super malambing (sweet), very mabait (good) and I love him so so much!”

PUMPKIN was rescued from the street in October, 2014.

Rescuer-owner Nerissa Coronejo Purisima says: “He was basically skin and bones so we thought he would not survive but because of tender loving care, he became a very confident, happy and healthy kitty that he’s meant to be.”

She adds: “The first picture was taken two days after the rescue and the two other pictures are his latest photos. He is now  four years old.”

“Yes, I am a proud parent of a rescued kitty,” Nerissa says.
