Building solutions leader Cemex Philippines, through The CEMEX Philippines Foundation, supports education by ensuring a safe, resilient, and conducive to learning environment for Filipino children.

This year, it conducted cleanup activities in Calavera Elementary School in Cebu and San Joseph Elementary School in Antipolo.

These efforts are part of the annual Brigada Eskwela activities and are also in line with Cemex Philippines Foundation’s Build Education program.

More than 100 Cemex Help. Engage. Reach. Out. (H.E.R.O.) volunteers participated in the activities, which included repairing and repainting of classrooms and cleaning up the surroundings within the school premises.

In addition, it also distributed school supplies to around 350 pupils in communities in Naga, Cebu and 700 students in Barangay Palangoy, Binangonan.

Jasmin Birondo, principal of Calavera Elementary School, expressed her gratitude for Cemex’s continued commitment and support: “We would like to thank Cemex and all their volunteers for their time, effort, and resources. The partnership we have will be treasured forever because it takes a village to educate a child.”

The annual participation and support of Cemex to the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program is also an opportunity for Cemex employees to exercise volunteerism and give back to society. “We always look forward to our yearly participation in cleaning up the schools in our communities,” stated Chito Maniago, Cemex Philippines Foundation executive director.

“In our small way, we are able to make a lasting impact on the lives of fellow Filipinos, especially the youth,” added Maniago.

Cemex Philippines Foundation’s executive director affirmed the organization’s long-term commitment to nation building through a grassroots community approach. “It is no question for us to ensure the welfare and sustainable development of the communities that we operate in,” he said.
