A Japanese restaurant in Manila spices up August with its lineup of curry dishes available at discounted prices.

Curry, which was originally introduced to England during its colonization of India, came to Japan during the Meiji era, at a time when India was under the colonial rule of the British Raj.

Chef Hiro of Kitsho Japanese restaurant whips up his delectable curry dishes.

As a culinary pastime, curry has evolved into one of Japan’s most beloved dishes, eaten at least once a week on average. Kitsho Japanese restaurant serves its curry dishes of pork, chicken, beef, and seafood, as well as Katsu-Curry (katsu) and Curry Nabe (hotpot) to diners looking for meals that will spice up their day.

For the entire month of August, all curry dish orders enjoy 20 percent off. In addition, diners get 15 percent discount on a la carte dishes, except lunch set menus.

Katsu-Curry is a breaded, deep-fried cutlet that’s usually pork (or chicken) and smothered with curry sauce.
