East meets West in Bohol

A hidden gem in Bohol offers a signature mix of old world ambiance and Filipino hospitality, making it ideal for those who want to get away, albeit temporarily, from the Christmas flurry in the city.

“We’ve always believed in delivering a relaxing, memorable, and world-class experience to show our guests the best qualities of Filipino hospitality, especially during this busy holiday season,” says managing director Frederick Christian Schoof.

A six-time winner of TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award, the Peacock Garden follows an east meets west design philosophy as seen in its halls, rooms, and amenities.

On display as guests enter the lobby is Dr. Jose Rizal’s living room furniture during his time in an 1886 study stint in Heidelberg. Complementing this is a wall of picture postcards from the early 1900s, a private collection taking guests to a visual trip to the past.

Its nostalgic décor and contemporary exteriors exude a unique charm that captures the hearts of travelers.

At the hotel’s Laya Restaurant, guests use antique chairs from the late 1800s collected from castles and mansions around Europe while enjoying a mix of Continental and Filipino fare. Homey signature beverages abound, such as sangria made with Philippine coconut wine, gumamela (local hibiscus) iced tea, and third-wave espresso made with local organic coffee beans.

Each of Peacock Garden’s 33 guest rooms is adorned with Cebu-crafted coconut palm and seashell-inspired furniture. Its Fontana Aurelia Spa combines local hilot and Swedish massage techniques, giving a unique and relaxing experience. The hotel also offers a private music and dance club, and an infinity pool with a gorgeous view of Bohol Sea.

Guests also enjoy an exclusive 60-minute head, shoulder, and back massage at Fontana, the only Filipino establishment in the 2012 list of Condé Nast Johansens Recommended Luxury Spas. Also included are a round of signature cocktails best enjoyed with the sunset view, roundtrip airport/seaport transfers, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
