As part of its 89th anniversary celebration, Far Eastern University (FEU) continues its commitment to support the arts and culture through the annual AYKON, a program that introduces students to notable individuals who have been game changers of Philippine arts.

In the program, featured icons talk about their journey in perfecting their art and their contributions to enriching the Filipino culture. Previous FEU AYKONs have included fashion designer Rajo Laurel, actress Nora Aunor, and chef Sandy Daza.

Joining the names of the FEU AYKON hall of fame this year is prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde who talked about her humble beginnings, struggles and successes, and her vision for ballet. With more than 40 years in ballet, Lisa aims to continue her legacy.

“All artists leave something behind through their art. We dancers leave behind a memory whenever we are on stage, without having to say a single word,” she said. Through her prestigious institution Ballet Manila, she aims to bring ballet to the people and the people to ballet.

By giving our students an opportunity to listen to the stories of great Filipinos, we wish to inspire them to work hard towards becoming agents of change,” said FEU Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Maria Teresa Trinidad P. Tinio.
