Attention Filipinos: Be prepared as the dead make their way back into the living, with TV5’s airing of The Walking Dead!
Since its 2010 debut, The Walking Dead has garnered an average of 12 to 14 million viewers per episode. The series has even been named as one of the most watched cable television series in the United States and has gotten numerous rave reviews from critics and viewers alike. One of which includes The New York Post, which describes the show as “the flat-out scariest, best, most unusual show to ever hit the small screen.” It has even caught the attention of talk show producers and mobile game makers, as there are talk shows dedicated to discussing The Walking Dead episodes and mobile game applications that features the series’ premise.
More than that, it has gained popularity worldwide with each country having their very own fan sites and clubs dedicated to exploring all things The Walking Dead. In the Philippines alone, there are around three Facebook fan pages, composed of thousands of followers.
Despite its popularity, the question still remains, what is the series all about? Well, The Walking Dead centers on a world, wherein a deadly virus turns people into mindless, flesh-eating zombies. The series features an array of characters, namely Sheriff Deputy, Rick Grimes and his family – Lori and Carl; Rick’s best friend, Shane Walsh; and skilled hunter, Daryl Dixon – all of which will band together to navigate, survive and live through the aftermath of the virus outbreak. Can they make it out alive? Or will they succumb to the decaying monsters taking over the streets?
Luckily, Filipinos nationwide can now find the answers to these questions, because The Walking Dead is making its nationwide premiere this coming Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 7 pm, right after the scheduled program, Aksyon. Plus, there might be a bonus treat as this version of The Walking Dead series may or may not be Tagalized. You’ll only find this out during the show’s television debut at TV5!
