Quezon City to install solar LED lights for street lamp posts

To make streets and communities safer, the Quezon City Council has passed a resolution urging Mayor Herbert Bautista to include in the priority projects the installation of solar LED lights in street lamp posts.

City Resolution 7667-2018, introduced by Councilors Hero Clarence M. Bautista and Allan Butch Francisco, emphasized the savings from using LED lights will benefit other programs and services of the city government.

“The move to adopt an integrated solar LED light is more advantageous to private consumers and to the government in terms of costs and savings,” the resolution reads.

The integrated solar lights have a charging time of six hours with eight hours of full power and 40 hours of power saving mode. They can last up 20 years with a lifetime of 50,000 hours.

Meanwhile, to promote local land ownership, the Quezon City government through the City Council approved two subdivision plans in Barangay Bagong Silangan and Barangay Payatas.

City Ordinance 2732-2018, introduced by Councilors Precious Hipolito-Castelo and Franz Pumaren, authorizes the subdivision plan of Meadow Heights Residences for 90 saleable lots located along J. P. Rizal Street in Barangay Bagong Silangan. Rio N. Araja

Councilor Castelo also authored City Ordinance 2733-2018 that approves the 123 lot-subdivision plan of Lakas ng Lower Hasmin Homeowners Associaiton, Incorporated along Camia Street, Lower Hasmin, Barangay Payatas A.

The subdivision plans are approved in compliance to City Ordinance 2502-2012 or the Quezon City Comprehensive Zoning Ordinances of 2016 that provides additional housing lots for the residents of the city.
