Some 2,500 Navoteños earned extra income from doing cash-for-work for the Navotas City Government.

Beneficiaries received P3,840 from their 10-day service at various offices of the city hall.

The program, spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, seeks to provide immediate employment to distressed or displaced Filipinos.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco thanked DSWD for giving Navoteños an opportunity to work and earn extra income.

“Any and all opportunities that will help our people earn a living and support their family are considered blessings,” Tiangco said.

“The assistance from DSWD cannot come in a more opportune time, especially now that Christmas is fast approaching,” he added.

District 1 beneficiaries worked from October 16 to 25 while those from district 2 rendered their services on October 22 to 31.

Beneficiaries of the program included people with disabilities, solo parents, families of fisherfolks and other indigent Navoteños.
