The Navotas City Government has started rolling out its NavoNegoSerye to empower poor Navoteños with knowledge and skills on entrepreneurship.

The NavoNegoSerye is a series of seminars that aims to equip participants with livelihood skills training and teach them how to avail the city government’s Tulong Puhunan and Tulong Negosyo programs.

The City Government, through the NavotaAs Hanapbuhay Center, intends to hold 100 NavoNegoSerye this year to groups composed of at least 20 participants.

“We want Navoteños, especially those from low-income families, to learn how to start and sustain a business,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.

“Through the NavoNegoSerye, we aim to encourage them to venture into entrepreneurship and earn a decent living,” he added.

Tiangco also urged the participants to enroll at the Navotas Training and Assessment Institute to acquire technical-vocational skills.

“Studying at our training centers is free. You can learn bread and pastry making, dressmaking, welding, automotive servicing, and others at no cost,” he said.

“We want to give you the opportunities you may need for you to learn new skills, earn certifications especially from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and be able to get meaningful employment,” he added.

Earlier, 433 Navoteño graduated from the NavotaAs Institute. Of the 355 who took the TESDA assessment exam, 353 or 99% passed.

Tiangco also mentioned that the city government is constructing two more training centers at Brgy. Daanghari and Brgy. North Bay Boulevard South-Kaunlaran. The centers will offer barista, wellness massage, animation, visual graphics, among others.
