Lady Legislators, DILG, NCWP team up for Asean women’s confab

The Lady Local Legislators League (4L) of the Philippines, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the National Council of Women in the Philippines recently signed a tripartite memorandum of agreement on the nationwide advocacy for women.

Under the MOA, the DILG will encourage participation of women legislators across the country to take part in the Asean+2 Conference for Women Leaders to be held in Manila from March 21 to 23.

The three-day conference will gather all women groups and affiliates in Asean member countries in government service, private sector and non-government organizations. The meeting will also launch awards for women all over the country.

Signing the MOA were 4L president and Masbate Vice Governor Kaye Revil, DILG Undersecretary Austere Panadero, and NCWP board member Dr. Amelou Benitez-Reyes.

According to Revil, one of the prime movers of the event, the conference will see lady lawmakers from vice-governors to barangay council members crafting bills for submission to Congress for the advancement of women’s rights.
