Partido Federal ng Pilipinas secretary general Thompson Lantion on Tuesday stood firm on his ground that federalism will help achieve lasting peace in Mindanao and bolster economic growth in all regions not only in the National Capital Region.
“Federalism is the solution to the country’s problems,” he said.
He said the shift to a federal form of government is the key to liberate the people from poverty.
The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas is a national political party accredited by the Commission on Elections.
“We are hoping to introduce President Rodrigo Duterte as our new party chairpeson,” Lantion said.
Duterte is pushing for the shift from a unitary system to a federal form of government.
Lantion vowed to to continue the party’s campaign to heighten public awareness of the Filipino people on federalism.
“We will not stop to explain the salient features of federalism and its huge benefits,” he said.
“We are confident that the people will accept federalism once a massive information campaign is in full swing,” he added.
The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas is headed by Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones, a lawyer and a member of the Philippine Military Academy class of 1994.
He was once a Department of Interior and Local Government undersecretary, who played an important role in the nationwide campaign to convince the President, who was then the Davao City mayor, to join the presidential race in May 2016.
According to Lantion, a former Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, the most perfect way to laymanize the concept of federalism is through discussions.
