Davao City”•The Registry of Deeds in Region 11 has asked the public to update their manually issued Certificate of Title before Sept. 30 to comply with the digitization program of the agency.
On Monday during the Davao Press Club’s Kapehan sa Davao, the ROD office announced it is undergoing a transition of the manually-issued certificate of titles to ensure more security for their clients.
ROD Record Officer 2 Amelia Respicio-Samarita said the office is currently updating their database through scanning of the manual certificates to create backups.
“It is very important to convert them because it will be electronically preserved and for future reference,” Samarita said.
Since 2009, the ROD started the digitalization process to accommodate the almost 500,000 title holders whose titles are still manually issued and has covered 90 percent of the titles.
She explained there will be no adverse effect if title holders fail to update their certificate of title. Virgilio Delos Reyes, Land Registration Examiner 2, said title holders that fail to comply with their deadline can still visit their office anytime for updating.
“It is important that we put it in our database so that we can preserve it for future reference,” he said.
Through the digitalization process, every step of the transaction, including the officer of their office who handles the transaction will be recorded, Samarita added.
“If there are complaints of error, we can immediately trace where the error occurred since every step of the process is documented,” she said.
Delos Reyes also clarified that all manually issued certificates of title including those issued by the National Commission of Indigenous People, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the other issuing agencies needs to undergo the digitalization process in their office.
