Magalong holds tracing seminar in Pampanga

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga—Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Chief of the National Task Force for Contact Tracing, and his team held a one-day seminar on contact tracing for coronavirus cases at the Police Regional Office 3 headquarters here Tuesday.

The seminar sought to arm participants with special skills in contact tracing, as the number of persons who contracted the coronavirus in the region have skyrocketed in recent days.

Magalong said it is better to have many contact-tracing teams because there are cases when first-level contacts of COVID-19 cases can reach as many as a hundred people.

Contact tracing teams are made up of health care workers such as doctors and nurses as they determine the level of risk of virus transmission. Police assist the team for cognitive skills, the mayor said.

Meanwhile, Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr., the National Task Force on COVID-19 Chief Implementer, who was also present during the activity, highlighted the crucial role of Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) in the nation's fight against the disease.
