Villarica, who has completed her three terms as congresswoman of the 4th District of Bulacan and president of the Central Luzon bloc of legislators at the House of Representatives, will take her oath for the first time as city mayor of Meycauayan, the jewelry capital of the country.

Easily the most elegant and best-dressed political figure in today’s ceremony, Villarica vowed to continue the remarkable growth of Meycauayan’s industrial estates through the dynamic leadership of outgoing City Mayor Atty. Henry R. Villarica, who was elected unopposed to replace his wife as 4th District representative.

Mayor Linabelle told Manila Standard she will prioritize a solution to the flooding and garbage problems of the city and try her best to harness the cooperation of all Meycauayeños to clean up and revive the rivers and waterways of the city to become “the Venice of Bulacan.”

Villarica is one of the seven women mayors in Bulacan who won in the May 13 local elections.  The others are Mayor Maryann Marcos of Paombong; Mayor Marie Flores of Doña Remedios Trinidad; Mayor Carla Galvez-Tan of San Ildefonso; Mayor Maritz Montejo of Pulilan; Mayor Tess Vistan of Plaridel; and Mayor Joni Villanueva of Bocaue.
