TESDA, FCF train women in sewing

Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya—The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in partnership with the FCF Minerals Corp. here recently provided free training to improve the sewing skills of women in this town.

Ian Moller, FCF country manager, and acting general manager for operations said the 12-day free training on sewing was offered for 21 women sewers from barangays Darubba and Runruno.

“The recipients were recently given pre-qualification questionnaires and passed it before they were given the training,” he said.

Moller said the participants learned the whole process of garment production “from A to Z.” 

He added that the training serves as a preparatory tool in upgrading their skills for the production of high-quality garments and accessories.

Moller further said that before the end of the training, the participants underwent an assessment examination to earn a TESDA National Certificate II.

As an agreement, FCF Minerals Corp. will be the regular client of the TESDA-certified sewers for their livelihood.

The training was facilitated by the mining firm’s  Community Relations Office (CRO) through its Community Development Organizers (CDOs).
