Aritao elderly get early gifts from local government

Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya—More than 1,700 elderly residents here have received early Christmas gifts from the provincial government.

Mayor Lucita Tan said the gift-giving activity was conducted in support of the Elderly Month Celebration sponsored by their local government unit through the Office of the Senior Citizens’ Affairs and in partnership with the provincial government.

Mayor Tan, Vice Mayor Ruben Sayo, and former governor Ruth Padilla, now consultant at the Office of the Governor, led the distribution of gifts such as blankets, umbrella, and towel, among others.

Centenarian Gertrudes Mendoza of barangay Darapidap also received a P20,000 cheque from Aritao as an incentive.

The fund was given through the Centenarian Ordinance of the municipality.

Mendoza is also set to receive P100,000 from the provincial government also through the same ordinance of the province.

“We are truly grateful for our LGU officials who continue to watch for our welfare and provide us with various assistance. We hope for their unending support and understanding on our sector,” said Adelina Galvan, the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs president.
