GenTri cops conduct anti-drug seminar

General Trias City—Local police led by city police chief Supt. Paul Bometivo, in cooperation with Mayor Antonio “Ony” Ferrer, recently held a one-day seminar on Community Mobilization Program, Drug Clearing Program and SIPAG Program at the General Trias Cultural and Convention Center in Barangay Sampalucan here.

Around 500 participants from 33 local barangays composed of village chiefs, kagawads, tanods, members of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council and PNP personnel attended the program.

The police discussed the Community Mobilization Program, they also talked about the parameters of “ComMob” and how a barangay can be certified as Mobilized Barangay by the Regional Headquarters.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Calabarzon led by Mary Ann Loranzo discussed the Barangay Drug Clearing Program, She also discussed drug awareness and the role of BADAC, and the parameters of certain barangay are certified as Drug Cleared Barangay.

As of now, only four out of 33 barangay cleared form drugs, these are Barangay Dulong Bayan, 1896, Bagumbayan and Governor Ferrer with PDEA certificate, according to Supt. Bometivo.

“We’re still in process of clearing for the 29 other barangays with the help of respective barangays, we will do our best to clean the remaining barangays,” he added.

Dr. Jonathan Luseco, City Health Officer, and Bengky Generoso, City Social Welfare Officer, also presented their plans and programs to the community rehabilitation program for persons who use illegal drugs.

The local police thru City Drug Enforcement Team is continuously working to eliminate the illegal drugs in the area, Bometivo said.
