Tagaytay Sangguniang Kabataan head voted into Cavite Provincial Board

Tanza, Cavite—Cavite Gov. Jesus Crispin ‘Boying’ Remulla and Senator Joseph Victor ‘JV’ Ejercito recently led the oathtaking ceremony of the new set of officers of the Cavite Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Federation at the Aqua Mira Resort here.

Rhyan Natanauan, 21, of SK Tagaytay City was elected as the new SK Provincial Federation President over the 23 municipal youth council representatives and thus gained a seat on the Provincial Board.

Others elected were Jerome Gonzales from Dasmariñas City as vice president, Patricia Roxas from Naic as secretary, Neil Magallanes from Maragondon as treasurer, Mac Espiritu from Bacoor as PRO, Ayeen Bation from Silang as auditor, and Nathaniel Nuarin from Gen. Mariano Alvarez town as sergeant at arms. 

Natanauan, as Ex-Officio Provincial Board Member-elect, will be joining the Provincial Council session on July 2 at the Provincial Capitol session hall in Trece Martires City.

Meanwhile, 829 elected village chiefs, including the 33 chairmen of General Trias City’s barangays, were sworn into office by Governor Remulla, witnessed by Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos and Senator Ejercito at the Manila Jockey Club in Carmona.

Remulla also offered scholarships to all SK presidents who want to enroll for a master’s degree, with the Office of the Governor shouldering their school fees.

Remulla added that one of his projects is a provincial Internet-based telecommunications system with a speed of 20mbps using fiber-optic technology.

“The Cavite youths play an important role in advancing the progress and order of the province. Their youth is not a hurdle in becoming part of the movement towards the development and progress of every town,” Ejercito said.

The senator also said he is an advocate for retaining the SK system even after a planned shift to a federal form of government and challenged the youth leaders to go beyond what previous SKs has done before.

Both Remulla and Ejercito highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in governance, especially on the local level.
