Balanga opens Eco Park amid waste center

BALANGA CITY, Bataan—City Mayor Francis Garcia and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon-Gozon recently led the inauguration of the Balanga Eco Park in Barangay Munting Batangas.

Located at the city’s Materials Recovery and Composting Facility, the park will showcase the initiatives of the city government in addressing the problems of waste disposal and segregation.

“We are serious to implement our waste management program,” Garcia said.

“Let us not forget to take care of our environment,” Venzon-Gozon added.

In the same event, the city government gave outstanding barangay street sweepers certificates of recognition for their efforts.

Rev. Jefferson Paule conducted the blessing of the park. Councilor Benjie Merino, barangay captains, environment office officers, and representatives of various farmer groups joined the inauguration.

The city government relaunched last year its ecological waste management program, intensifying its campaign among city residents.

Some of the waste management activities of the city are Balik Basket and Bayong Program, Gamit Pang-Eskwela Mula sa Basura, Plastic Palit Bigas, Junkshop ng Bayan, No Segregation No Collection, and Operation Linis Ilog and Linis Barangay, among others.
