NV villagers gain DoLE livelihood kits

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—At least 25 villagers here will be given with livelihood starter kits from the Department of Labor and Employment to earn income for their families.

Engineer Joseph Sales, DoLE officer-in-charge in the province, said the recipients of the starter kits worth more than P500,000 are members of the informal sector from the various towns of the province.

The assistance is rolled out through the DoLE’s Livelihood Emergency Employment Program.

Sales said the beneficiaries will receive a livelihood starter kit that will enable them to manage and operate a livelihood undertaking and become self-employed.

“It aims to engage them in sustainable employment through easy to learn livelihood undertakings,” he said.

The assistance, Sales added, also seeks to address employment needs of unemployed, underemployed, self-employed or displaced workers due to economic problems.

The assistance will be used by the recipients for their various livelihood undertakings such as tailoring, dressmaking, cooking native delicacies, beautician, food processing, bakery, cooking, mushroom culture, furniture, fruit processing, rice trading and native food making.

The project will be managed by the recipients after providing them with trainings and will be monitored jointly by the DOLE and its accredited co-partner, the provincial government through its rural development program focal person.
