Ingrid Power Holdings Inc., formerly AC Energy DevCo. Inc. of Ayala Corp., is set to start the construction of a 300-megawatt diesel power plant in Pililla, Rizal.
The project is aimed at addressing the peaking and reserve requirement of the Luzon grid.
“We are planning to start construction for first 150-MW in the next few months,” AC Energy Inc. chief executive Eric Francia said.
“We’re hopeful that we’ll get to start the construction as soon as we complete all the requirements. We’re hoping this year,” Francia said earlier.
The company secured an approval to conduct a grid impact study for the project.
Francia said the company was exploring diesel power plant opportunities because, “we believe the country will need more peaking and reserve, ancillary capacity…especially in a world where you inject more renewables.”
