Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia—MTD Philippines Inc., the local unit of Malaysia’s AlloyMtd Group, is looking at investments opportunities in the renewable energy sector in the Philippines.

The company is keen on pursuing hydropower projects, said MTD Philippines president Patrick Nicholas David.

“Banks are also willing to finance RE projects. RE projects are attractive to proponents like us because of the fiscal incentives and other benefits we stand to get from the government,” David said.

MTD recently teamed up with state-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority to develop the first component of the National Government Administrative Center worth P13.69 billion inside the proposed New Clark City in Central Luzon

The project was patterned after the successful Putrajaya City in Malaysia and Sejong City in South Korea, which are now the central capital administrative areas in those Asian countries.

The Philippine Competition Commission approved the joint venture between MTD and BCDA on merits that the deal would not result in unfair competition.
