Grid operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines is sharpening the skills of its personnel as part of the company’s thrust to build the strongest power grid and maintain the best power utility practice in Southeast Asia.

National Grid started its five-day Trailblazers’ program on Monday in Jinan, China, where it sent 26 engineers and other technical personnel from its operations and maintenance, planning and engineering, system operations, and quality and safety, to participate in a comprehensive learning program.

“The Trailblazers’ Program is a unique opportunity for our engineers to hone their skills and raise the bar of excellence for transmission services. This will ensure that NGCP can keep up with the fast paced development of the country’s economy, and make Philippine transmission more globally competitive. Improvement of an outdated and aging transmission system has always been NGCP’s primary mandate,” NGCP said in a statement.
