Flat glass makers seek DTI guidance

The flat glass industry sought an audience with the Department of Trade and Industry to help address public safety concerns and determine risk reduction measures pending the acquisition of another local flat glass company.

Flat Glass Alliance of the Philippines Inc. executive vice president Nonie Galpa said the group would pursue a multi-billion peso acquisition of a flat glass manufacturing facility on a pioneer status.

The group is also seeking the adoption of safety measures on glazing practices through specific regulations.

“In the everyday of the twenty eight years that our company operated the lone flat glass manufacturing in the country, we shared our mission of uplifting the general welfare of the consumers in the flat glass industry, as well as, the recommendations for providing better and safer quality glass,” company executive vice president Nonie Galpa said.

“Our industry association, the Flat Glass Alliance of the Philippines Inc., actively participated to your efforts in the area of glass and glazing applications,” Galba added.
