THE business outlook improved in the second quarter of 2017, with the overall confidence index increasing to 43 percent from 39.4 percent in the first quarter, results of the latest Business Expectations Survey conducted by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas show.

Bangko Sentral director Rosabel Guerrero of the Department of Economic Statistics said the results of the survey showed more businesses “are optimistic about the country’s economic prospects for the second quarter compared to that a quarter ago.”

Respondents cited the anticipated increase in demand during the dry season, enrollment and harvest periods, increase in orders and production volume, expansion of businesses and new product lines, introduction of new and enhanced business strategies and processes, and inflows of investments with the continuing trust in government leadership.
