The National Irrigation Administration expects the P13.37-billion second phase of the Balog-Balog Multi-purpose Project to be completed by 2020.
“The Balog-Balog is a multipurpose project wherein it is a source of power, irrigation and for drinking. Hopefully we can finish that by 2020 and we are trying to have the groundbreaking next month. We are inviting the president to do the groundbreaking,” said NIA administrator Ricardo Visaya.
The project, when fully completed, will irrigate 34, 410 hectares and will serve at least 23,000 farmers. It is projected to increase the cropping intensity within the service area from 24 percent to 200 percent which will directly improve the crop production and farmers’ income.
“This will be the biggest dam that will constructed here in the Philippines. We are now on phase 2. The pre-construction conference is on-going,” said Visaya.
