Swiss-Belhotel Philippines on Friday unveiled plans to expand services to Mindanao and to the north after recently signing a professional management service agreement to operate the P10-billion Swiss-BelHotel Resort and Villas in Davao and seven more in a span of three years.

Swiss-Belhotel International president and chairman Gavin Faull said the expansion aimed to make the brand well known and prepare it for the surge in tourists led by the Chinese.

“We realized that we’re not developing here as fast as we like. China tourism will start to further thrive in the Philippines. We hope to capture this market. We are here to make a difference,” he said in a briefing.

Swiss-Belhotel managed the Linden Suites in Ortigas, Mandaluyong City 24 years ago before it left the country in 2002.

The Davao expansion is a 190-room resort and 100-unit villa within Island Gardens of the city of Samal.

“This is a 24-hectare development that will be built via french architecture using eco-friendly materials. There will be no plastic inside the resort and villas,” said Swiss BelHotel International executive vice president James K.C. Ram.
