A group of businessmen based in Clark Freeport expressed an interest to put up a world-class hotel and resort in a property located several kilometers from Mayon Volcano in Legazpi City.

Dr. Irineo ‘Bong’ Alvaro, one of the founders of Medal Consortium based in Clark, said he found Legazpi City an ideal place and site for their planned hotel and resort development project because of the panoramic view of the Mayon Volcano and the fast-growing tourism industry in Bicol Region.

“Legazpi is a major economic hub in Bicol Region. The city also has a fast-growing tourism industry with a focus on adventure tourism and the city government is promoting Legazpi as an ideal location for ICT-BPO businesses.  The group will invest its egg into the nest, so vibrant and viable,” said Alvaro.

Alvaro, who led Medal Consortium during the project site inspection, said he was inspired by the groups’ ongoing project—Mirej Resort which is being built in Clark Freeport with nature as its centerpiece.

Medal Consortium is composed of hoteliers Bong Alvaro, Marc and Ric Mercado, Edwin Lim and Jeff del Mundo.

“The properties for hotel and resort project are situated in a place where one can experience breathtaking view, overlooking the world’s famous cone-shaped volcano, Mt. Mayon,” Alvaro told Manila Standard.
