Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation on Tuesday inaugurated a road work enhancement to ease traffic congestion south of Metro Manila.
“With vehicular traffic at Cavitex growing, we were determined to finish the flyover facility the soonest as well as advance the works of the Pacific Drive upgrading which was originally included in Phase 2. We saw the need to include the road works at the Pacific Drive since it complements the elevated south-bound lanes and left turn from Cavitex, targeting its completion now that the Holiday season has started,” CIC president Roberto Bontia said.
“We have expected and prepared for the increase of traffic and have designated traffic marshals and ground support to help manage the traffic especially during rush hours while motorists are still getting used to driving on this structure. Part of the traffic management is the strict implementation of traffic rules and apprehension of violators which also affects smooth passage,” he said.
Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said the southbound flyover and left turn facility of Cavitex would greatly help ease the flow of 140,000 vehicles.
“We expect more room for our motorists when phase 2 is done in the fourth quarter of 2019. We all know that progress is aggressive in Cavite,” Villar said.
The company invested P800 million for the project.
Phase 2 covers widening of the three bridges in Wawa, Las Piñas and Parañaque, with construction targeted to begin in September and to be completed by the second quarter of 2019.
The road widening will increase road capacity by 25 percent, which is now hitting a daily traffic of 145,000 vehicles.
Cavitex is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. which also operates North Luzon Expressway and Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway north of Metro Manila.
