JDA Day discusses impact of digitalization on supply chain

JDA Software Group Inc. has recently hosted a regional conference in the Philippines that discussed the impact of digitalization on retail, supply chain and logistics.

The third JDA Day, with the theme “The Next Gamer Changer: Optimizing Supply Chain Planning and Logistics, gathered nearly 250 supply chain professionals from manufacturing to retails sectors on May 18 at Okada Manila in Parañaque City.

It brought together supply chain practitioners and leaders from verticals such as manufacturing, retail, wholesale/distribution, transportation and logistics.

Vishal Dhawan, JDA vice president for sales in Asean and India, said new technologies in supply chain are breaking the boundaries of old and conventional models.

“As more and more companies lean towards digitalization, the forces of these changes make it imperative to follow suit. The stage of business maturity, the investment of priorities and commitment from management play a big role in how they can quickly leapfrog the competition,” Dhawan said.

Zalora Philippines managing director Constantin Robertz tackled digital supply chain in e-commerce and omni-channel retail.

Robertz said Philippine e-commerce of physical goods is projected to escalate 16 times over the next 10 years.  Zalora, he said, has enabled different brands to connect and expand their businesses with shoppers and continue the integration of system and procedures across the value chain.

Rosemarie Ong, the chief operating officer of Wilcon Depot Inc., shared her insights on retail and erudition systems. Ong said the shift to digital for Wilcon was indeed a compelling one, considering that the business mainly concentrates on home development retail. 

Wilcon Store provides employees with tablets that show to the public how products are resembled in a realistic structure.

JDA Software vice president for sales in Asia Pacific Amit Bagg and Genie Technologies Inc. senior consulting services director John Boe discussed their perspectives on market transformation in business needs, technology interruptions and strong foundation which are required to deliver an exceptional customer service.
