No change in PH travel advice – UK

The United Kingdom on Tuesday clarified that its most recent travel advisory covered only Western Mindanao.

British Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce said his country did not issue any new travel advisory to the Philippines, except for Western Mindanao.

“I wanted to clarify that the UK has not recently changed its travel advice for the Philippines. Our current guidance against all travel to Western Mindanao and all but essential travel to Eastern Mindanao and Southern Cebu has not changed since January 2017,” he said.

He said the British Embassy on December 31, 2018 merely published a factual update of a blast in Cotabato City.

“We regularly make such factual updates to our travel advice, but this is not the same as a change in the level of our advice,” Pruce said.

He added the UK keeps its travel advisory under close review, “taking into account a wide range of factors with the intention of giving British nationals the best possible guidance.”
