GMA-7 expands in the south

GMA Network Inc. said Monday it is beefing up its presence in southern Philippines amid growing sales from local advertisers. 

“Regional TV is fiscally very healthy and we remain optimistic that the strong performance of our nine regional stations and offices will continue, most especially that the key local markets are booming, “ Oliver Victor Amoroso, vice president and head of GMA’s regional TV department, told reporters in a press briefing. 

Amoroso said the network was expecting total advertising revenue of P120 million from local advertisers this year, higher than P103 million last year. 

GMA Regional TV registered a  6-percent increase in local sales to P75 million in the first half from a year ago. The network recently unveiled local news program One Mindanao, which features comprehensive and in-depth delivery of news and information in the region “We continue to strengthen our local news programs, through beefing up our content, which cater to distinct regional taste,” Amoroso said.
