State-run Social Security System said members’ contribution in the first four months increased 9.6 percent to P52.18 billion from P47.59 billion a year ago, as the agency intensified the campaign against delinquent employers.

Employers are considered delinquent if they don’t remit the monthly contributions of their employees, thereby denying their workers of benefits mandated under the law.

Data from its general accounting department showed the agency posted the highest revenue collection growth in January at 13.9 percent to P13.55 billion. February collections increased by 12 percent to P12.86 billon; March by 7 percent to P13.14 billion; and April by 5.9 percent to P12.63 billion.

“This was mainly driven by the aggressive contribution collection drive of SSS such as ‘Operation Tokhang’ dubbed as ‘Run After Contribution Evaders’ or running after delinquent employers,” SSS president and chief executive Emmanuel Dooc said in a statement over the weekend.
