The Energy Regulatory Commission approved the application of Philippine Solar Farm Leyte Inc. to put up a point-to-point transmission facility that will connect its 30-megawatt power plant in Ormoc City to the Visayas grid.

ERC said in a decision the approval of the point-to-point transmission system was in accordance with the provisions of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001.

ERC approved the facility subject to compliance to certain conditions such as that the facilities shall be operated and maintained by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines and it shall be used solely by Philippine Solar Farm and not to be used directly to serve the end-users.

The regulator said the connection assets, costing P13.448 million would be developed by the company in accordance with the system impact study and facility study requirements so as not to result in the degradation of the grid.

Philippine Solar Farm said in its application the point-to-point facility was essential to the delivery of power from the generation facility to the grid.
